Opening in 1916, the San Diego Zoo is one of the earth’s largest and most famous zoos. It’s a must-see for any animal lover, with more than 4,000 animals representing 650 species on 100 acres. The zoo is also home to an impressive botanical collection with more than 700,000 plants. 

The zoo offers free admission to active-duty military personnel only. Spouses and dependents receive a 10% discount. Unfortunately, there’s no discount available for veterans.

Other activities include 4D theatres, guided bus tours, wildlife presentations, and an aerial tram.

How to Get Military Discounted Tickets to the San Diego Zoo

In-Person: Admission to the Zoo and Safari Park is free without a ticket for active duty military personnel. Simply show up with your military ID, and they’ll let you in.

Spouses and dependents need a valid dependent ID card at the ticket window to receive the 10% discount.
