This is an original 1920s B3-A US Army Air Corps plane mounted air compass.
This specific one is made by Elgin National Watch Company and one of only a few known survivors of this model, and as far as I know the ONLY surviving Elgin made example. This is an extremely rare and special piece to be a centerpiece of a military collection.
To my knowledge, all of the other similar examples are in museums, as this one should be as well. Overall good used condition, see photos for details on that.
The oil inside is a bit low due to a small leak from being shaken up during transport. I can NOT guarantee that more will not leak out during shipping to you, I can only guarantee that it will get there intact and complete.
