Vintage from the 1900s
Materials: nickel plated brass
This is a rare antique advertising piece by Anheuser Busch Malt-Nutrine.
It's a very tiny nickel plated brass bottle. When screwed open reveals a hidden corkscrew. Before metal bottle caps they use corks in most bottles including perfumes, beverages and apothecary bottles. These advertising pieces were patented in June, 1897.
This one states on the base that it
was made by Williamson Co. Newark, N.J. and that patent had been applied for-making it pre June 1897. Malt-Nutrine brand was produced from 1895 to 1942 by Anheuser-Busch based in St. Louis, Mo. It was promoted as a health benefit for nursing mothers, and for people with insomnia or who were ill.
Neat little piece of advertising history and very unique. The pictures don't do it justice.
Don't forget that To save on shipping costs, you can bundle multiple items from my listings into one purchase.
Thanks for looking!!!
