After a few hours of research, I have determined this to be an original authentic Hubley doorstop. Several articles and reliable doorstop reference materials tell me the following:
1 Hubley did not imprint all of their cast iron pieces with their name and pattern # and if it is imprinted it is more likely a newer piece.
2 John Wright Co., bought all the Hubley doorstop molds in 1948 and imprinted their castings with their name and mold /casting #
3 Made between 1920 and 1940 ?? I could not find a specific casting date for this pattern.
4 At one point, Hubley only put paper labels on the backs of their pieces (stickers). This could have come off if there is one.
5 Basket is very smooth, which is a strong indicator it was hand filed. Rough, grainy, pebbly areas and grinder marks appear on fakes or reproductions.
This was purchased from a huge estate in Mississippi that was filled to the rafters with nothing but authentic antique pieces the owners collected. They owned more Hubley do
