This stamp was released to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of John Ringling and to honor the American Circus industry. It pictures Johann Ludwig Jacob, a German-born man who moved to America and became the star clown of Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus. At the time of issue, this was the only US stamp to picture a living person.
The product is a block of six US 5c stamps issued in 1966, featuring a circus theme. These stamps are Mint Never Hinged (MNH) and in very fine to extremely fine (VF/XF) condition. The colorful stamps, depicting scenes from the American Circus, were manufactured in the United States and have a face value of $0.20. This collectible set is perfect for stamp collectors interested in Americana and circus memorabilia from the 1960s.
MNH, Very Fine to Extremely Fine, Stored in Protective Sleeve Since Purchase, Kept in Block Book.
