This charming lidded serving dish, made by Homer Laughlin's Nautilus line, is in vintage fair condition and best suited for display. It features a delightful pattern of red apples and pink blossoms on a creamy white background, with ornate shell-shaped feet and handles. The piece shows signs of its age, including crazing across the finish and chips to the glaze, especially around the feet and handles.
The dish has a green band around the edge of the lid, which has been artfully painted over with a gold. This well-applied overpaint is not immediately noticeable but adds to the unique character and history of the piece.
This is a classic example of vintage fruit-themed dinnerware from the mid-20th century. The "Eggshell Nautilus" line was produced by Homer Laughlin from 1937 into the mid-to-late 1950s.
Vintage Fair. Significant crazing, chips, and overpaint on the lid.
